This evening I attended the first of 3 in a series of workshops on developing your personal brand. I personally am a huge fan of Stef Sword Williams and her work encouraging people to shamelessly self-promote.
This workshop took on an interesting conversational style in the form of a friendly Q&A. Particpants voiced their hesitations surrounding self promotion and Stef came back with solutions and management methods for each.
My key takeaway from this session was the recommendation of the book 'Win Without Pitching' by Blair Enns and the notion of asking several questions in a situation to enable you to position yourself as an expert. I think we are naturally averse to questions, out of fear of sounding stupid. As much as this advice is simple, I think it's incredibly powerful too.
